Free crochet holly wreath ornament pattern โ a small flat wreath motif with holly leaves and berries, perfect for tree decor or gift tags.

This small wreath motif is a quick, satisfying make โ perfect as a tree ornament, gift tag, or scattered across a holiday table setting.
Materials
- Green worsted weight yarn for the wreath base (about 15g)
- Small amount of red yarn for the berries
- 4.0mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Small ribbon loop for hanging (optional)
Abbreviations
- MR โ magic ring
- sc โ single crochet
- dc โ double crochet
- ch โ chain
- sl st โ slip stitch
- st(s) โ stitch(es)
Wreath Base
With green yarn, chain 20 and join with a slip stitch to form a large ring, being careful not to twist.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st to first sc. (20 sc)
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, skip 1 st, 2 dc in next st, repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. This creates a fuller, textured ring.
Fasten off, weave in the starting tail.
Holly Leaves (make 6-8)
Chain 6.
Row 1: sl st in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st in last ch. This creates one small pointed leaf shape.
Fasten off, leaving a small tail for sewing. Repeat to make 6-8 leaves total.
For a more classic holly-leaf silhouette, work small picots (ch 2, sl st back into base) at the widest points of each leaf before fastening off, mimicking the jagged edges of real holly leaves.
Berries (make 3-5)
With red yarn:
- MR, 5 sc in ring (5)
- dec around twice, then fasten off, leaving a small tail
Stuff each berry very lightly with a small scrap of yarn or stuffing before closing.
Assembly
Arrange 2-3 holly leaves in a small cluster and sew to one section of the wreath ring. Nestle 2-3 berries in the center of each leaf cluster and sew in place. Repeat with a second cluster on the opposite side of the wreath if desired, or keep to a single cluster for a minimalist look.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Attach a small loop of ribbon or yarn to the top of the wreath for hanging.
Tip: working the leaves in two slightly different shades of green (if you have both on hand) adds subtle depth and makes the cluster look more like real foliage.
