Crochet Christmas Tree Garland Pattern (Easy Holiday Decor)

A row of small triangular trees makes a cheerful, quick garland for the holiday season. Each tree takes about 15 minutes, so a full garland comes together in an evening.

Materials

• Green worsted weight yarn (about 8g per tree)
• Small amount of brown yarn for trunks
• Small amounts of yellow, red, or white yarn for optional ornament dots
• 4.0mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Twine or yarn for stringing the garland

Tree Motif (make one per tree, worked flat in rows)

With green yarn, chain 2.

Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn. (2 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (4 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc across to last st, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (6 sc)

Row 4: Repeat Row 3. (8 sc)

Row 5: Repeat Row 3. (10 sc)

Fasten off. This creates one triangular tier. For a fuller, layered tree, make 2-3 of these triangles in slightly increasing sizes (starting rows can begin with more starting stitches) and stack them, or simply use one triangle per small tree for a minimalist garland style.

Trunk

With brown yarn, chain 4, sc in 2nd chain from hook and across. Fasten off leaving a tail and sew to the bottom center of the tree triangle.

Ornament Dots (optional)

With yellow, red, or white yarn, make a small chain-2 loop, sc twice into the first chain, and fasten off with a small tail. Sew 2-4 of these small dots scattered across the front of each tree for a decorated look.

Assembling the Garland

Once all trees are complete, thread a length of twine through the top point of each tree using a yarn needle, spacing them evenly. Tie a small knot on either side of each tree to keep it from sliding along the string.

Finishing

Weave in all remaining ends. Hang the garland along a mantel, staircase, or window.

Tip: alternate 2-3 shades of green across the trees in your garland — it reads as a lush pine forest rather than a uniform row and adds visual interest without extra effort.
