Crochet Spiderweb Coasters Pattern (Easy Halloween Table Decor)
BeginnerYarn: Worsted Cotton (Size 4)Hook: 4.0mm (G-6)Time: 30-45 minutes per coaster3 min read

These flat spiderweb motifs work up quickly and make a fun, functional Halloween decoration. Use cotton yarn for durability if they'll actually hold drinks, or any worsted yarn for pure decoration.

Materials

  • Black or white worsted weight cotton yarn (about 15g per coaster)
  • Small amount of a contrast color for an optional spider embellishment
  • 4.0mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations

  • MR โ€” magic ring
  • sc โ€” single crochet
  • dc โ€” double crochet
  • ch โ€” chain
  • sl st โ€” slip stitch
  • st(s) โ€” stitch(es)

Spiderweb Motif

Chain 6, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)

Round 2: Ch 5, sl st into 3rd dc from the last join (creating a small loop out from the center), ch 5, sl st into next dc. Repeat around, creating 6 evenly spaced radiating loops. Fasten off if only making a small motif, or continue to Round 3 for a fuller web.

Round 3 (Web Spokes): Join yarn in any ch-5 loop from round 2. Ch 6, sl st into next ch-5 loop. Repeat around. This creates the outer radiating "spokes" of the web.

Round 4 (Cross-Threads): Working across the spokes made in Round 3, sc into first spoke, ch 3, sl st back into the 2nd chain from the hook (a small picot), sc into same spoke, sl st into next spoke. Repeat around to create the crossing web-thread texture.

Fasten off, weave in the starting tail before beginning finishing.

Optional Spider Embellishment

With contrasting yarn, make a small spider to sit at the center or edge of the web:

Body: MR, 6 sc in ring, dec around twice, fasten off, stuff lightly.

Legs: Cut 8 short lengths of yarn (about 3 inches each), fold each in half, and knot through the body at even spacing around, trimming to even lengths.

Sew or glue the spider to the center of the web, or let it dangle from a thread off one edge.

Finishing

Weave in all ends and block the coaster flat, pinning out the points of the web edging for a crisp, symmetrical shape. Let dry fully before use.

Tip: work a full set in white or cream yarn for a delicate lace look, or black yarn on a dark tablecloth for a bolder, more graphic Halloween statement.
